Risk Assessment is one element of our Internal Audit framework. Internal Auditing has changed, and we have changed our approach and range of services to map to the new internal audit world. These changes can be summed up as a move to risk based internal control assessment and consultation.

One of the biggest changes has been to move to Risk Based internal auditing. This approach relies heavily on the corporate level risk assessment process to drive the three year audit plan, and risk assessments within the audit to ensure focus on the elements of greatest risk. This has driven a more effective and professional audit approach and result, with a strong focus on the needs of internal and external stakeholders.

The other fundamental change in the internal audit world has been the move from primarily 'çompliance' functions, to Internal Control Consultants, able to assess both the effectiveness of the control environment, and able to provide the advice and guidance required to ensure the implementation and operation of effective internal controls.
